Q: What is the Colonnade Society?A: The Colonnade Society is a recognition society for donors who contribute annual gifts totaling $1000 or more to the University of Maryland College Park.
Q: Can I support my school/college or a specific program at College Park?
A: Yes, all gifts that you make between July 1 and June 30 are counted toward your membership.
Q: Do my gifts to Athletics count toward Colonnade Society membership?
A: Yes, but Academic gifts are critical to sustaining the university's momentum. Your generous support of both Academic and Athletic programs is greatly appreciated.
Q: My spouse gave $500 to the Health Center and I gave $500 to the University Libraries, are we Colonnade Society members?
A: Yes, gifts from you and your partner are counted together unless you tell us otherwise-some people wish to have their philanthropic support counted separately.
Q: I work for a company that will match my gift 1:1. If I give $500 and it is matched, am I considered a Colonnade Society member?
A: Yes, matching gifts count toward your annual cumulative total. So, please send in the appropriate paperwork from your company.
Q: I gave $5,000 in January of 2001, why was I not recognized as a Colonnade Society member?
A: You must renew your support of $1,000 or more every fiscal year to be a member of the Colonnade Society.
Q: I made a pledge of $1,000 last February, but I never paid it-does that count?
A: No, membership in the Colonnade Society only recognizes gifts received and processed between July 1 and June 30.
Q: May I make a pledge today and pay it in 10 months?
A: Yes, you can plan to pay your pledge whenever it is convenient for you, as long as you fulfill your commitment before June 30. If you would like to pay your pledge in multiple installments, we can arrange that also.
Q: What is the Maryland Fund for Excellence?
A: The Maryland Fund for Excellence provides the avenue for you to make your gift to any designation or fund at the University of Maryland. The Maryland Fund channels your support to the appropriate area that you request. Simply put, it makes philanthropy easy, convenient and flexible.
