Shirley Povich Symposium

The Philip Merrill College of Journalism and the Colonnade Society held a lively roundtable discussion at the Shirley Povich Symposium*: Out of Bounds: When Athletes Make Front-Page News. The event was moderated by Thomas Kunkel, dean of the Philip Merrill College of Journalism and George Solomon, ESPN ombudsman and former assistant managing editor of sports for The Washington Post. Panelists included ESPN baseball reporter Tim Kurkjian '78, ESPN The Magazine senior editor, Jon Pessah '74, NBC sports anchor Jimmy Roberts '79, Baltimore Sun sports columnist David Steele '85, and ESPN Sportscenter anchor Scott Van Pelt.
